Cold and Flu Prevention

Here are some recipes I have found to be effective for preventing and treating any cold or flu (and a sneak preview into content from the online Viruses and the Immune System class)

Protective Diffuser Blend
Diffusing antibacterial and antiviral essential oils helps to kill airborne microbes. Add essential oils undiluted to a ½ oz glass bottle with an orifice reducer. Use 15-20 drops of the blend in your electric diffuser until the water runs out. Diffuse this blend at least twice a day.

  • 50 drops Black Spruce - Picea mariana
  • 50 drops Eucalyptus - Eucalyptus dives
  • 50 drops Laurel Leaf - Laurus nobilis
  • 50 drops Frankincense - Boswellia carterii

Acute Treatment Diffuser Blend

  • 50 drops Plai (North East) - Zingiber cassumunar
  • 50 drops Ravintsara (Ho leaf) - Cinnamomum camphora ct 1,8 cineole
  • 50 drops Saro - Cinnamosma fragrans
  • 50 drops Tea Tree - Melaleuca alternifolia

Note: If there are indoor cats or small animals in the house that can not go outside on their own, diffuse the oils in a different room than where the animals hang out. If there is someone who cannot easily tolerate essential oils in the house, diffuse when they are not in the house.

Building Web Presence

Building Web Presence

Aromahead Institute is about to launch a new online class called "Building Web Presence." We are especially excited about this class, as we have spent several years immersed in the process of building our web presence and growing our businesses with great success! Below is a very small sneak preview into one aspect of the class.

How we think of each social media platform:

1. Facebook - great for posting pictures, brief updates, a place for lots of interaction with customers. We also have our blog posts automatically sent to our FB page. FB is an easy place for people to share links with each other - so being here makes it easy for people to refer to our business.

2. LinkedIn - professional, business networking. Here, we can connect with others with the obvious understanding that we want to connect about business.

3. Twitter - we haven't really connected to Twitter, but we are there because it makes sense to be where people are looking for us. Some people really love the Twitter experience, we find FB easier to interact with, so we have all of our FB updates automatically post onto Twitter.

4. Flickr - where we can post photos that we link to from other platforms (our blog, facebook, our website). By putting our pictures on Flickr people can see more about who we are and what classes are like at Aromahead Institute.

5. YouTube - YouTube has fine tuned the technology needed to upload, store, file, and show videos - no small task. Youtube is simple and fun to use. We love making videos and posting them on our Youtube channel.

For those of you that are new to social media, the best way to learn how these networks work is to jump in. Allow yourself a few weeks of consistently posting on these platforms before you come to any conclusions.  Be patient and kind with yourself as you learn how to operate on each of these platforms - you are learning a new skill!
